When to Upgrade to Clintrial 4.3
Production Systems should
run on supported software platforms. Oracle Corporation
routinely cuts support for older OracleTM Versions.
To ensure that ClintrialTM is running in a supported
Oracle Environment, ClinicalSoft recommends beginning the upgrade
process, to Oracle 8.1.7 and Clintrial 4.3, one year before
Oracle ends extended assistance support.
Oracle
Desupport Timelines
Oracle Support is divided
into 3 categories: Error Correction Support (ECS), Extended
Maintenance Support (EMS), and Extended Assistance Support (EAS).
ECS is desupport earliest but as the software version has been
around for a while most error corrections have been addressed.
EMS is only offered for terminal releases and is desupported
next, followed by EAS. The upgrade and validation process
averages between 6 and 9 months therefore, ClinicalSoft recommends
upgrading one year prior to the termination of EAS.
Oracle support will be
